Currency
The United States Dollar (USD, $ or US$) is the official currency of Ecuador. It was adopted after the collapse of the previous currency, the sucre, to stabilize the economy. While Ecuador uses US dollars, they issue their own centavo coins rather than exclusively using US coins.
Language
Spanish is the official language of Ecuador with indigenous languages recognized as regional languages. English is also often spoken as a second language in the tourism industry.
