Packing Tips from an Ex-Overpacker

One day in the office kitchen I overheard a conversation between two women who were debating whether or not you can pack for a four day trip using only carry on luggage. In my rush to see who was talking I almost spilled the coffee I had just poured. I wanted to immediately tell them: Yes! You most certainly can pack for four days in just carry on bags! After all, my partner and I had travelled all over Ecuador for ten days with just our backpacks as carry ons. I resisted the urge to interrupt their conversation to give them all the packing tips I could think of, but now I’ll share them with you!

WOW Air Didn’t Wow Us

*Update: WOW Air ceased operations on March 28th, 2019*

When booking our flights for our three week trip to Europe, we booked one with WOW Air from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Reykjavik, Iceland. I have of course heard many people complain about WOW since it’s a budget airline and doesn’t offer a lot of extra amenities. I understood that and was willing to take a bare bones flight for this leg of our trip since it would only be a couple hours. For our other flights, I had booked Icelandair since I’d read they had decent leg room and my husband is tall enough to really appreciate the extra inches between rows.

The Time Air Canada Employees Proved Canadians are the Nicest

When we were planning our trip to Ecuador, the cheapest flights we found were on Air Canada out of Toronto, ON which is only a couple of hours from Buffalo, NY. There was just one short layover in Bogotá, Colombia before we continued on to Guayaquil, Ecuador. Having never flown with the airline before, we had no idea the effect that Air Canada employees would have on our journey.
