One of the highlights of our last minute trip to Costa Rica was visiting the Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica. This was something I’d read about before going and was actually part of why we wanted to head to the southeastern part of the country!

To keep my wanderlust in check, we decided to make a last minute trip to Costa Rica to celebrate our second wedding anniversary and to take advantage of the long Memorial Day weekend. With only five days, we managed to see a quite a bit and fit in some bucket list adventures. Costa Rica had been on our travel radar for some time. So when a good deal on flights arose, we jumped on it. Since the flights were in and out of the capital, San José, we decided to look to the lesser visited Caribbean coast for some laid back vibes.

When traveling, sometimes you meet a person whose memory you carry with you throughout the trip and back home with you. Miss Edith was this person during our last minute trip to Costa Rica over a long holiday weekend.

While in Costa Rica for a short whirlwind trip, we visited Café Britt Finca and Roastery in Heredia to the north of San José. As with everything we did on that trip, taking the tour there was a last-minute based on what we felt like doing and what we could manage with our limited time in the country. That said, Sunday night after our adventure white water rafting on Río Pacuare, we booked a tour for Monday afternoon to Café Britt, Costa Rica’s first gourmet coffee roaster.

On our last minute trip to Costa Rica, the hubby and I were lucky to book a super last-minute day trip to go white water rafting on the Río Pacuare. Named as one of the Top Five Rivers in the World for class II-IV rafting, it’s a must when visiting Costa Rica.
