Among the plethora of activities available in Baltimore, Maryland during the summertime are the outdoor movie nights held in neighborhoods around the city. Fells Point holds their Films on the Pier out on Broadway Pier providing moviegoers with the additional bonus of enjoying the waterfront while attending the show.

Every summer Detroit, Michigan hosts the Woodward Dream Cruise, the world’s largest one day automotive event. An appropriate event for Motor City that’s held on the first paved road in the United States, Woodward Avenue. We have a friend in Detroit who’s a bit of a motorhead and invited us to come out to visit for the weekend. My husband had gone out to visit for the Dream Cruise a couple years before and was pretty excited to go back out to Detroit to see it again.

Shakespeare in Delaware Park has been a Buffalo summer tradition since 1976. Since then it has grown to become one of the largest outdoor Shakespeare companies in the USA and is now the second oldest such company. Theatre students from the University at Buffalo work alongside professional actors to provide high-quality performances of the bard’s beloved plays. Each year two plays are chosen to be performed and each one runs about 3-4 weeks with performances six days a week. The outdoor performances are free to attend, which make for a great date night or a fun way to spend a summer evening with a group of friends!
