Slowly wandering my way everywhere

Flawesome Blogger Award

A big thank you to Laura from Modern in the Mitten for nominating me for the Flawesome Blogger Award! It’s such an honor to receive another blogging award as I navigate this weird world of writing down things and posting them on the internet for people to (hopefully) read.

Per Sophia, the creator of the award “Our flaws make us human, our flaws tell us more about who we are, and in turn we turn those flaws into awesome strengths. In short, our flaws make us #flawesome.”

I love how this award makes you re-think your flaws into ways that you’re awesome instead.

Rules for the Flawesome Blogger Award:

  1. Link back to the wonderful creator, Flawesome Blogger Award Badgehttps://sophiaismaa.wordpress.com/
  2. Show off the award on your website and also on social media
  3. Reveal your three best flaws and tell everyone why they’re awesome.
  4. And nominate 10 other Flawesome bloggers

My flaws:

I’m a Poky Procrastinator:

Kelly reading the signs at the Hayden Planetarium which is a flaw turned awesome in the Flawesome Blogger Award

Reading every sign at the Hayden Planetarium.

Guilty as charged. I put things off because there’s so often something else I rather be doing than the thing I need to do. However, since I work well under pressure, this often works for me. I can get things done fast when there’s a deadline approaching. My poky meandering also often helps me discover hidden gems or catch something beautiful when traveling. It’s even part of the name of my blog, I’m poky. I want to explore every corner and see all the things! I can easily spend hours wandering picturesque streets in a city or admiring every exhibit and reading every sign in a museum. Lucky for me, my hubby is pretty patient and willing to wander around exploring and taking pictures with me.

I’m a Perfectionist:

I like everything to be as perfect as possible. It’s always been this way, drawing pictures as a kid, grades in school, throwing parties as an adult. This is something that made it exceptionally difficult to launch my blog since I wanted everything on my website to be perfect. It took me a long time to decide that it was never going to be perfect and to just accept that it would be a perpetual work in progress. Due to my perfectionism I try to produce the highest quality content I can manage, which I think works out nicely for those reading my blog. Although I’m sure it drives my friends crazy when I make them read my drafts and hound them for feedback. I hope you all know that this means you’re getting the best content I can create, and that I’m not going to half-ass anything on my blog.

I’m Cheap:

Poky Little Wanderer and hubby dressed in 70s outfits for World's Largest Disco

Hello thrift store finds! Perfect for 70s outfits for the World’s Largest Disco.

I’m a habitual sale shopper and bargain hunter. To the point of not buying things I really want or sometimes even need simply because I don’t want to spend the money on them. I also will do a lot of shopping at thrift stores since it’s so much cheaper and you can often find really nice items that still have the original store tags on them. This thriftiness also means I’ll sometimes skip going out for expensive meals or activities with friends and family. On the plus side this means when it comes to budgeting and saving, I’m able to scrimp and save a lot of money. Our savings have allowed us to do quite a lot of traveling the past few years. I rather not buy something expensive if I can then afford to buy flights to explore a new place. It has also allowed me to pay off my federal student loans (millennial goals, right there) well before they were scheduled to be paid off by paying extra on them every month for years. Yay for saving!

This is wonderful. I am so with you on sale shopping, and completely agree that if any significant amount of money should be spent, it should be for an experience! 🙂

It’s absolutely how I prioritize my spending! I rather spend more on something I’ll remember for a lifetime than something I’ll wear to work ten times.
